Alicja Kwade: Warten auf Gegenwart
Library Shelf Location 18.KWAD
Publication Date 2015
Description

Alicja Kwade polishes pebbles like diamonds, coats coal briquettes with gold leaf, twists bicycles, breaks down everyday objects into the finest of particles or measures a space with the help of tiny clock hands, which move forward every hour.

While the clock in Gegen den Lauf (2013) astonishingly keeps ‘real’ time, the floor sculptures of Der Tag ohne Gestern (2014/15) make us all the more conscious of its inexorable passing.

Alicja Kwade thematises the fundamental phenomena on which our experience of the world and reality are based with her installations, sculptures, video pieces and photographs and designs sensual-poetic works with which she questions the essence of time.

Published on the occasion of exhibitions at Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, and at Kunsthalle Nürnberg in 2014/15.
