This anthology centres around the installation and film STILLLIFE by Ben Jeans Houghton, commissioned by Channel Four, in association with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and Northern Film & Media. Created for the Random Acts strand, STILLLIFE was broadcast throughout the UK in 2013.
An Anthology on STILLLIFE chronicles a collection of new writing made in response to a variety of subjects, including but not limited to; the Golem of Jewish folklore, the practice of Messyplay, Japanese Butoh, Anamism, the Vodoun Zombie in post colonial Haiti, stage set and setting, dreaming and the contemporary use of the botanic entheogen Salvia Divinorum. Each contributor was provided with a starting point tangentially linked to the formative period of research that led to STILLLIFE, from which they responded in any way they saw fit. |
