How can contemporary art tell us about the age we are living in? How are new technologies, digital culture and social media reshaping the practive of contemporary art today? Issues related to this cultural watershed are addressed in this book through the work of the 35 international artists contributing to the ARS17 exhibition. Most of these artists are milennials, a generation for whom the internet has always been a formative element of their reality. The book incules essays by the exhibition's co-curator Leevi Haapala and media art experts Omar Kholeif and Cristiane Paul. The essays are accompanied by an introduction to works in the ARS17+ Online Art collection and the Kiasma Theatre's ARS17 programme. |
