BALTIC Artists’ Book Collection

Artists’ books are books that have been made or conceived by artists. Many artists’ books are self-published, produced by small presses and often in limited editions. Some artists’ books may also be called book art, book objects or bookworks.

BALTIC Library began collecting artists’ books in 2003, following the exhibition Outside of a Dog- Paperbacks and other books by artists, and now has a collection of around 800 books.

All of the artists’ books in BALTIC’s collection are by contemporary artists and were made between 1990s to the present day. The collection is located within BALTIC Archive and is open to anyone by appointment. To book an appointment please email archive@balticmill.com.

The collection can be browsed online here at BALTIC+
