“Money Talks” features an original essay by Lisa Phillips and two essays by Barbara Kruger. “Money Talks” focuses on work and money, which remains one of Kruger’s most provocative and prescient subjects. Kruger used this subject to create some of her most powerful and lasting images. The works address the cultural representations of power, identity and sexuality in relation to money filtered through Kruger’s unique lens by utilizing a highly charged visual language. The images challenge the spectacles of stereotypes and cliches. |
