Conceived and designed in the guise of a 'women’s magazine', Belles ! Belles ! Belles ! Les femmes de Niki de Saint Phalle explores representation of the female body in the innovative, feminist and avant-garde work of the late Niki de Saint Phalle.
The book is a new paperback edition of the catalogue first published to accompany the eponymous exhibition at the George-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois Gallery in 2017. The paperback release is limited to 600 copies and is replete with images from both her personal life and at work in the studio.
Saint Phalle (Catherine Marie-Agnès de Saint-Phalle, 1930-2002) was a French-American artist, painter, engraver, sculptor, performer and film-maker associated with Pop Art, New Realism and Neo-Dada, who left a large body of work but is particularly renowned for her 'Nanas', monumental, highly colourful dolls that represent women with well-rounded forms.
