This exhibition catalogue is published alongside the annual show at Leeds Art Gallery (14 September – 17 November 2019), and at South London Gallery (6 December 2019 – 23 February 2020).
Established in 1949, this annual show has been dedicated to profiling the work of emerging artists at the start of their professional careers. The selectors for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2019 are Rana Begum, Sonia Boyce and Ben Rivers.
In New Contemporaries 70th anniversary year the fully illustrated catalogue includes Artists' works, biographies and individual texts by each of the 45 artists; Q&A with 2019 Selectors; New Writing with New Contemporaries artists’ pages; and Forewords by Bloomberg Philanthropies, New Contemporaries Director, Chair and Programme Manager.
