Description Brian Eno is one of the biggest international rock stars. He founded Roxy Music and worked together with musicians such as Robert Fripp, David Bowie, Luciano Pavarotti, Talking Heads, John Cale. He also produced Devo and U2. Recently, he has been among the authors of Wim Wenders’ The Million Dollar Hotel’s soundtrack. Mimmo Paladino became famous in the early Eighties as one of the main exponents of the so-called ‘Transavanguardia’. A talented painter, sculptor and set designer, he has his works on exhibition in the most important museums of the world. What can make two personalities so different from each other work together, to produce this wonderful book edited by Demetrio Paparoni and published by Alberico Cetti Serbelloni Editore. Brian Eno isn’t only a musician. His sound and lights installations have been exhibited in the greatest European and American museums. Eno is an enthusiastic admirer of Paladino’s painting, just like Paladino is an admirer of the ‘ambients’ (both of lights and sound) created by Eno. The pretext for their collaboration was offered by the exhibition I dormienti (The Sleeping Ones), at London’s Roundhouse, in autumn 1998. The pictures and drawings exhibited there, skilfully arranged into a sophisticated graphic project, a long chat between the artists, and the music specially composed by Eno for the occasion and included in the CD given with the book are masterfully mixed to obtain an art book that can already be considered an art object.
