Description

Presented every five years, the British Art Show provides a vital survey of contemporary art in the UK. This, its ninth edition, has been developed at an extraordinary moment in British history, a time during which the UK was in the last throes of Brexit negotiations and, along with the rest of the world, was finding ways to cope with a global pandemic. Curated by Irene Aristizábal and Hammad Nasar, British Art Show 9 is structured around three main themes: healing, care and reparative history; tactics for togetherness; and imagining new futures. It features 47 artists including Hurvin Anderson, Michael Armitage, Helen Cammock, Beatrice Gibson, Victoria Sin and Tai Shani, and is organised by Hayward Gallery Touring in collaboration with galleries across four host cities: Aberdeen, Wolverhampton, Manchester and Plymouth. Designed by Johanne Lian Olsen, and available with four different book covers.
