Description |
"Farbe im Fluss/Color in Flux" examines how artists have dealt with free-flowing colour since the time of Jackson Pollock. A common thread in this exhibition is an unorthodox history of art that deals with colour and critical and political aspects of colour that is actually in flux. The works of leading proponents of Abstract Expressionism and colour-field painting are combined with more contemporary works. On the one hand, colour is seen as a means of expression as understood in terms of Modernism; on the other, a more conceptual, sometimes antipainterly, approach to colour applies. All works are accompanied by detailed analyses.
