Elizabeth Magill

Recent Paintings

2 October 2004 - 28 November 2004

This exhibition presents a large selection of recent and new paintings by Elizabeth Magill.

Throughout her career Magill has continually developed her use of paint. In her landscapes, she experiments with the picture surface by pouring, dripping and rubbing colour into the canvas. Magill exposes the underlying image, creating a distressed and scarred surface.

Combining abstract mark-making with figurative work, the paintings have a haunting beauty infused with a sense of memory and loss.

Exhibition produced by Ikon Gallery, Birmingham.
