Description |
equal play explores the principles of non-hierarchical, non-gendered and non-prescriptive play environments, and takes inspiration from Dutch architect, Aldo van Eyck’s fixed structural/sculptural ‘alphabet’. This has transformed the gallery into an active space of play and experimentation. In parallel, the exhibition shares Potrony’s research into the Antisexist Men's Movement which sought to address care and equality, specifically, through men's involvement in childcare.
Expanding on the themes of equal play, this online one-day symposium will include two panels: Non-Gendered and Non-Directive Play and Men in Childcare. The first panel will consider the importance of non-gendered and non-directive play in shaping futures. The second panel will consider if and how the historical context of Men in Childcare and publications such as Achilles Heel continue to inform the work of organisations, such as the local group of fathers and fathers-to-be North East Young Dads & Lads.
Panel 2: Men in Childcare led by Michael Richardson, featuring guest speakers Martin Robb, Anna Tarrant, Ben Messih, Jonah York and Rob Lester. |
