Description The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea(NMoCA) is holding an exhibition entitled between July 26 and October 16 at its main building in Gwacheon. This exhibition is part of a series of special exhibitions designed to inform the public of global art trends. Since 2009, NMoCA has held special exhibitions in cooperation with various countries including Spain, India, and Australia. This year, the museum is holding an exhibition of French Modern Art, recently held an exhibition of the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art and an exchange exhibition of Australian modern art. Sixteen artists who wield considerable influence on the world's art stage have been selected from among previous winners and nominees of the Marcel Duchamp Prize of France. The exhibition has been arranged in a monographic form in order to display each artist's individuality. The works of these artists incorporate diverse forms of modern media including videos, installations, sculptures, photos, and etchings, all of which have entered the mainstream of 21st century modern art. Visitors will be able to explore the diversity of post-modern art, as well as the French people's deep-rooted historical consciousness and unique sensibility. AIDAF, which consists of French collectors, established the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2000. Each year, the association selects four nominees and chooses one prize winner from among them. The following year, it offers the prize winner an opportunity to hold an individual exhibition at the Pompidou Center and assists with the publication of an artwork catalog. AIDAF contributes to introducing French young artists to the world through the Marcel Duchamp Prize, as well as providing opportunities for people to reflect on the significance of French artist Marcel Duchamp, who had a great influence on today's modern art.
