Synopsis: Only the dedication and title pages of the original book were left unaltered in this small volume presented to one of the confirmed youths of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1916. Most of the text is entirely blocked out or covered by line drawings made with a thick marker. There are a few pages where the text is darkly caged in by lines, but still legible, or a few pages where short but powerful words or phrases were written in, from which we may glean Goldstein's perspective on the religious teachings passed on to children.
