Blurring the line between visual art and music Graeme Durant brings his studio soundtrack into the gallery for an evening of live performance in and around his Level 2 exhibition. Selecting from a playlist as diverse as his visual references, the line up includes background Muzak from Joss Humberstone, electronic music from nwavi, vocal harmony/dischord from Charm Offensive and alternative rock duo, That F♥cking Tank.
In their own words Charm Offensive brings you, ‘Leather strap snaps, wet synth smacks, a bulging brain inside a latex trouser wrap. Get inside natural high (wasted) overload. A new Dawn, a bright Bothwell, an emerald Green Susie shining'.
Nwavi has been making electronic music since 1994 under various guises. In a nod to Durant’s exhibition, nwavi will use a stripped-down setup, appropriating various compositional loops that come to hand, resulting in a beat-driven analogue adventure.
That F♥cking Tank are an instrumental noise rock duo from Leeds/Bradford. Andy Abbott plays a specially tuned baritone guitar and James Islip plays drums. TFT have been making music since 2003, performing throughout Europe in a range of spaces, from squats and basements, to established festivals and multi-thousand capacity venues. TFT advocate, test and put into practice the DIY ethos.
