Nada Raza, Assistant Curator at Tate Modern, joins BALTIC Curator of Exhibitions and Research, Alessandro Vincentelli to discuss Hajra Waheed, The Cyphers, drawing from Raza's research and knowledge of contemporary artists from the Middle East and South Asia.
Nada Raza works on acquisitions, displays and exhibitions at Tate Modern with a particular specialism in modern and contemporary art from the Middle East and South Asia and its diaspora, particularly India and Pakistan. She travels regularly within South Asia for historical research and keeps up to date with contemporary artistic production. She is particularly interested in pre- and postcolonial cosmopolitanism and networks of solidarity and influence, international modernisms and experimental and collaborative practices. Nada Raza’s research also focuses on contemporary practice in the Middle East. Her previous curatorial projects have dealt with artistic production responding to new borders and the modern nation state, and on labour relations and urban change in Mumbai.
