Following the exhibition Two Peacocks (3 Nov-24 Nov 2011), an interest in consumer culture is continued by Kate Smith, who will show a series of new pastel drawings and objects installed alongside her classic 90s work Levitation.
Kate Smith says:
"The blurring between image and object, between these and the territory the viewer occupies, is potentially a place where the space between fantasy and aspiration collapses. This is where an understanding and disturbance of the mechanisms at work can be enacted and the space that Levitation1993 inhabits."
This work will be exhibited alongside the series of drawings Work in Progress. These drawings expand out sculpturally, are an extension of the physical space of the viewer and are an ongoing project. |
