"While researching 'The Necropolitan Line', Katrina Palmer was introduced to St George's Fields, a former burial ground on the campus of the University of Leeds that was in use between 1835 and 1969. This began a new seam of research for the artist as she discovered William Darby (1796-1871), also known as Pablo Fanque, a travelling circus proprietor who is buried in St George's Fields beside his wife Susannah. 'The Time-Travelling Circus : The Dossier concerning Pablo Fanque and the Electrolier' and 'The Time-Travelling Circus : Image Library in Progress' on the pages that follow have been developed from this research."
