Description |
This book presents a comprehensive record of Keith Tyson's 2004 series of 15 "History paintings". The works are of fixed arrangements of identically sized vertical strips held within a frame. The colours are those found on a roulette wheel, and when the paintings were composed the colour of each strip was arrived at by successive spins of the wheel. The works explore the importance of chance, both in the process of creation, and the creation of "History". Keith Tyson won the Turner Prize in 2002. His highly original works result from his experiments with the form and content of art, and engagement with the theoretical structures that purport to explain the world. |
