The following text from artist's blog (copied 15 June 2013) 'Pattern: part 1 December 8, 2012 This is an image from a book I made last year, 50 Full Stops. It came about from looking at visual codes in text and explores possible readings of these visual symbols when taken out of context. A page of full stops without text becomes a pattern, rather than a symbol which is recognised as a sentence closure. Changing the font face emphasises the visual nature of typography. A low-tech project, the paper it's printed on is 80gms Xerox paper, the layout was put together in Microsoft Word, the content is 36 pages of full stops in approximately 50 different font faces, at 72pt. The book explores repetition and pacing. When creating visuals there is a natural tension between intuitive creation and conscious decision making. This piece was exploring and emphasising an interest in repetition and pattern making. The repetitive pattern across each page creates a very steady rhythm throughout the book; the tempo does not change from one spread to the next, which encourages a high level overview when looking at the book. It works better if you flick across the pages, skimming over the individual spreads.' NB: THIS ARTIST'S BOOK IS KEPT IN BALTIC ARCHIVE AND IS AVAILABLE TO VIEW BY APPOINTMENT
