Lena Mattsson: Beyond the Surface
Library Shelf Location
18.MATT
Publication Date
2004
Description
What lies hidden behind the perfect surface? Nothing is what it seems to be. Is all we see but a projection of our own experiences? The exhibition presents a highly charged confrontation between two widely different means of expression - film and traditional watercolour technique. The films and paintings are inspired both by remarkable and fearful events in the artist's own life and by folk tales and legends from the Swedish province of Bohuslän. The films are projected onto stone and large framed watercolour paper in which the watercolour paintings serve as reflections and mirror images of reality and of the films.
