Description Published to accompany an exhibition held at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield, 31st March-10th June 2007. Cover title. Includes bibliographical references. Fitzmaurice's four sign-works ARCADIA are sited in Yorkshire Sculpture Park at points which have distinctive characteristics, ranging from the entry point to an historic pond, creating a space in which we can consider the function and meaning of signs. The signs appear familiar: motorway blue; heritage brown; town and village white. We invite visitors to email images of themselves standing next to an ARCADIA sign, like tourists worldwide with the Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon etc, to playfully think about our need to place and be placed.
