Lifecycle presents the works of eco-designer-maker Michelle Brand alongside poems by Jenny Swann, written in response to the works on display.
Every product/artwork that will form part of this exhibition has been derived from a standard PET (polyethylene terephthalate – a versatile material that is fully recyclable) bottle, and will encompass hanging panels, fashionwear, sculptures and photographs presenting the products as artworks, all exhibited alongside the poems. Susan Lambert, curator of Lifecycle, states: “Products and poetry present the unseen beauty within throwaway by-products of consumer society, creating a discourse on the perceptions and presumptions surrounding beauty and disgust.”
The poems have been composed in direct response to the products/artworks and will form an integral part of the exhibition, presented as a visual, as well as forming the core of the text+work publication. |
