Published to accompany the monumental Luc Tuymans retrospective Intolerance in Doha, the capital of Qatar (20.10.2015 – 30.01.2016), the publication of the same title offers new insights into Tuymans’ oeuvre from the last twenty-five years. It contains a number of essays by leading art critics and an interview with the artist. Intolerance is richly illustrated with more than 800 illustrations. This ambitious publication includes not only around a hundred paintings and sixty drawings, but also studies, archival material and installation photographs of the main exhibitions in the artist’s career. The curator of the exhibition, Lynne Cooke (National Gallery of Art, Washington), questions Luc Tuymans about the importance of exhibitions and their organisation.
