Lucy Williams’ work over the last two years emphasizes her continuing interest in “glass houses” and the interiors of unique examples of early modernist architecture. In creating a spatial illusion through the use of two-dimensional, mixed media collage she captures the natural light and transparency which echoes the availability and use of new building materials in the early 20th century.
This catalogue includes images of 9 new collages, with the major exhibition theme represented by three different interpretations of Le Maison de Verre, the celebrated glass house designed and built by Pierre Chareau in Paris, 1932. |
