Mark Di Suvero: Open Secret: Sculpture 1990-92

Mark Di Suvero: Open Secret: Sculpture 1990-92
Library Shelf Location 18.SUVE
Publication Date 1993
Description From Library Journal Di Suvero's Cor-Ten Steel sculptures, often resembling heaps of twisted construction debris, are not well served by the two-dimensionality of the printed page. To address this problem, Di Suvero has chosen a number of his favorite poems (ranging widely from Chaucer to Octavio Paz to Wallace Stevens) to "replace this lost dimension." By themselves, however, the photographs quite effectively document Di Suvero's very recent work, whether monumental public pieces or intimate works under a foot tall. Also included are pen-and-ink sketches for some of the finished sculptures. Given the small time frame covered, this book is recommended only for major collections of contemporary or American art.-- Martin R. Kalfatovic, Natl. Museum of American Art/Natl.
