Michael Craig-Martin: Inhale/Exhale

Michael Craig-Martin: Inhale/Exhale
Library Shelf Location 18.CRAI
Publication Date 2002
Description Published to accompany the inaugural show in the new exhibition space at Manchester Art Gallery. In Inhale / Exhale, brightly coloured walls form the background for a range of hugely magnified painted objects, which are seemingly ‘inhaled’ into a painting on one of the walls and ‘exhaled’ onto the other walls. Inhale / Exhale is both subtle and complex in its allusions as it questions how we see and perceive the world and our surroundings. This book documents the making of this installation, exploring the extensive thought process behind it. Inhale / Exhale is Craig-Martin’s largest painted installation in the UK and his first solo exhibition here since his retrospective at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1989.
