Michael Kvium is one of Demark's most interesting painters with a strong personal iconography and style. He has always been an outsider in his art ever since he made his debut in the mid 1980s, when neoexpressionism and neoprimitivism were the dominant styles in painting. Instead he chose to develop his own figurative style and manner of painting that was deeply influenced by the great Spanish masters, Velazquez and Goya, especially the psychological realism of the latter. |
