I created a series of video diaries that had no narrative beginning or end. "Thumbs Down" was a term I used to describe all the footage I discarded from these video diaries. I treated the material as if it was a set of 35mm negatives and chose the images that I found most interesting ranging from 1989 to 1998. - M.C.
