Abstract |
"The Gap" in the title implies some breach; a grey area, uncharted or undefined; a Derridean gap between signifier and signified; the modernist/postmodernist divide; a difference between first and second order practices; the division between conditions of production and distribution; a boundary or border which must be negotiated. It is a useful metaphor for both audience and artist as it prompts a consideration of temporal, physical and ideological space. |
