In a world full of symbols the Red Cross signifies hope, help and comfort to millions the world over. With this in mind, a group of over seventy A-list celebrities were asked to find and photograph the symbols that give them support – their red crosses.
Each will approach the project with their own unique vision and perspective, the list includes:- best-selling authors such as Bill Bryson, Nick Hornby and Ian Rankin
- film stars including Nciole Kidman and Ray Winstone
- iconic performers such as Mick Jagger, Beth Orton and Marianne Faithful
- paparazzi savvy celebs including Helena Christensen and Kate Moss
- Musicians Moby and Natalie Imbruglia
- designers including Vivienne Westwood and Patrick Cox
All have been given the chance to be on the other side of the lens and to capture the people, places and symbols that give their lives focus.
The resulting images will be thought provoking and revealing, as will each of the ‘photographer’s’ accompanying words, written to both explain and critique the image they have taken.
Part of an ongoing collaboration between Canon and the Red Cross, the projects seek to encourage support for the charity and re-affirm it’s identity and importance. |
