Issue 15
Autumn/Spring October 2010 - April 2011
The official partner publication to Brighton Photo Biennial 2010: New Documents, curated by Martin Parr, this issue considers Parr’s interest in the changing face of documentary photography. Featuring new works by Alec Soth and Rinko Kawauchi, commissioned by Photoworks; Billy Monk’s photographs of nightclubs in 1960s Cape Town; Andy Freeberg’s art fair pictures and Lisa Barnard appropriated pictures of Margaret Thatcher. A panel discussion with Martin Parr, Charlotte Cotton, Paul Reas, and Sean O’Hagan, provides a critical context for this year’s Biennial. Ian Leith explores the cultural and social significance of pictures of bins drawn from the Design Council Archive; and Jason Evans reflects on aspects of British photography in the 1990s. Folio texts by David Chandler, Michael Godfrey, Sarah James, Ian Jeffrey and Julian Stallabrass, along with reviews of books by Stephen Gill and Olivia Huessler complete the new issue. |
