From website "Praktika Creating a critical context for socially engaged art practice Two-day residential workshop: 17-18 March 08 To date there have been limited opportunities for artists in Scotland to talk about their work among themselves in a critical environment. The aim of the workshop was to to raise the profile of socially engaged art practice by bringing together twelve artists for a peer group discussion of their work. In a context of mutual trust and respect each artist presented his/her artwork/project for critical response. Through this unique process the best imaginative processes and skills were identified. The workshop was hosted by David Harding and Rosie Gibson in collaboration with Deveron Arts. The objectives were: * to learn from professional development of art practitioners across Scotland/UK working in the field of socially engaged practice in the community * to have an opportunity for discussion and sharing * to be able to raise the threshold of good practice through critical interrogation; in particular with a focus on key issues of process, production, output and evaluation * to instigate a discussion of socially engaged practice as it exists now in Scotland * to provide the opportunity for dissemination of best practice through a publication. Nuno Sacramento was invited as a writer in residence to document the workshop. Participants: Deborah Beeson | Sylvia Grace Borda | Jacques Coetzer | Will Foster | Alhena Katsof | Shauna McMullan | Eva Merz | Janie Nicoll + Alex Hetherington | Anthony Schrag | Pamela So | Kirsty Stansfield | Iseult Timmermans"
