This exhibition celebrates the achievments of a new generation of British makers who have responded in a witty and inventive way to the incorporation of recycled materials in their work. The notion of the artist as 'rag-picker', bricoleur or archaeologist of the landscape is part of a familiar if occluded modernist tradition, from Schwitters, Duchamp through to Pop and sixties Nouveau Realisme. |
