Richard Rigg reproduces and manipulates everyday objects, turning them into theoretical conundrums or playful propositions. He asks us to look at the everyday again. Drawing upon the history of science, mathematics and literature, Rigg’s works at first glance often seem deceptively simple, but pitch reason against itself to undermine our rational and habitual understanding of the meaning of an object.

Rigg’s new work: N takes the format of a publication which documents a rock fall on Anglesey in May 2015. This major new work deals with the constructed image. Overlapping photographic after-effect with real-life image staging. Rigg shows the occurrence of a rock fall by employing built devices in nature, documenting the event, then digitally transposing the imagery afterwards. This layering of a normally naturally occurring event, shows the relationships and processes through which representations are produced.
