Description |
There is a wealth of artists in Cumbria producing vibrant, challenging and high-quality work across all media. Despite these artists having, in many instances, international reputations, their work has all-too-often had limited exposure in this region.
Sedition is designed to address this situation by presenting some the best work currently being produced in Cumbria - by established as well as by emerging artists – and for whom innovation and experimentation is at the very heart of their practice.
The Sedition exhibition has been selected by Manchester-based artist and curator, Laurence Lane; London-based artist, Jamie Shovlin and Visual Arts Officer at Tullie House, Fiona Venables. It includes work by around 20 artists, including sculpture, installation, film, photography and live art. A selection of work by 2010 fine art graduates from the University of Cumbria will also be presented. |
