Description |
SENI is a visual arts festival of contemporary Southeast Asian and Asian art aimed at creating open channels of dialogue between Singapore and international artists. Co-organised by the National Arts Council (NAC) and National Heritage Board (NHB) with other partners such as Multimedia Art Asia Pacific (MAAP) and Theatreworks, and led by Artistic Director Professor Chua Beng Huat (NUS), the festival is important as a precursor for the Singapore Biennale to be held in 2006. |
Abstract |
The theme of the exhibition, Art and the Contemporary, is a framework for curatorial work. Emphasis, and thus affirmation, is placed on the idea of the 'contemporary'. Sited in Singapore where contemporary art practices and exhibitions are emergent activities. |
