Description |
BALTIC presents an evening of discussion with a panel of architects and historians exploring the bold and ambitious examples of modernism in art, archiecture and design that developed in the North East in the postwar period. The panel includes acclaimed writer Rutter Carroll; Peter Buchan, Senior Partner at Ryder Architecture; Graham Farmer, Director of Architecture at Newcastle University; and Elain Harwood from English Heritage. The seminar includes particular reference to the work of Berthold Lubetkin, Victor Pasmore and Ryder and Yates. The seminar expands on the concerns explored by the Croatian artist David Maljkovic in his exhibition, Sources in the Air, at BALTIC from 15 March until 30 June, and will be chaired by BALTIC curator Alessandro Vincentelli. Presented in association with Ryder Architecture and as part of Festival of the North East and Love Architecture. The video documentation of the seminar has been split into 2 parts: Part 1 features an introduction from Alessandro Vincentelli, presentations from Rutter Carroll and Graham Farmer. Part 2 contains the panel discussion with Alessandro Vincentelli, Rutter Carroll, Elain Harwood, Peter Buchan and Graham Farmer and questions from the audience. |
