Description |
Photographer Stephan Zaubitzer has searched the globe for old cinema houses, both in use and obsolete, to photograph with a large format camera.
His inventory of this architecture, Cinés Méditerranée, creates an important record formerly only preserved by memory. The collection is focused on five countries of the southern coast of the Mediterranean sea: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon. The book accompanies an exhibition at La Chapelle des Pénitents Bleus in La Ciotat, situated across from the Eden, the oldest cinema in the world. Prefaced by Alain Bergala, it also includes a cartographic vision of the series. |
