Library Shelf Location ABC-DENM / ABC-LIST
Publication Date 2021
Description

The Hundreds is a series of short poetic stories that follow the development and dereliction of inhabitants of a new island. The Hundreds, published on the occasion of this exhibition by Wapentake, meditates on the poetics and philosophies of civic architecture and is shaped by the artists’ attempts to imagine public gathering during the lockdowns of 2020-21. The stories reflect on the nature and functions of utopia, the inefficiencies and silences lost with distance, and share oblique moments of the making of Town Hall Meeting of the Air.

Tess Denman-Cleaver works across writing, performance and installation. She is the Producer of the Women Artists of the North East Library and Programme Producer at Tyneside Cinema.

Kate Liston works with moving image, installation and writing that is sometimes performed. Kate also works as a lecturer in Fine Art at Northumbria University.
