Abstract The Window Gallery opened in July 1993, in the street level windeows of the British Council in Prague. From 1968 to 1989 there were very few exhibitions of foreign contemporary artists work shown in the country and there was a great demand and interest to see foreign artists work "first hand'. Every month the gallery shows works by both young Czech and British artists, the shows in general are solo exhibitions, and often works are prepared specifically for the space. The nature of the work, and activities of the space wish to provoke debate in a climate where critical discourse has not been a very familiar practice. The gallery specifically aims to be part of the local artistic community.
