The 'revolution' in the teaching of child and adolescent art was brought about by many art teachers. One of the most outstanding of these was Alexander Barclay-Russell, who recorded and brought together the ideas of his contemporaries. His own philosophy of art education is believed to have inspired Sir Herbert Read to write his 'Education through Art'.
