Are You Talking To Me?

13 July 2004 - 19 September 2004

Are You Talking To Me? is Berlin-based photographer Thomas Florschuetz’s first major exhibition outside Germany. This work spans a 10 year period and is made up of large scale colour prints, often produced and hung in a series.

The artist interrogates his own physical presence through close-up photographs of his body and, in another series studies iconic modern architectural details, such as the Bauhaus staircase or a Mies van der Rohe building.

The work is technically demanding and demonstrates an interest in form and colour, but there is a suggestion in all of his images that under their surface lies something less certain and more troubling.

Are You Talking To Me? was a collaboration between BALTIC and Kunstmuseum Bonn.
