Description Transmission: Speaking and Listening is an annual series of lectures organized by Fine Art, Sheffield Hallam University, in collaboration with Site Gallery and the Showroom Cinema. Leading and emerging artists, and on occasion, practitioners from other disciplines, discuss their work in relation to a particular theme with an audience of students and the public. The discussions, with works by the artists often specially conceived for the book, and critical essays addressing the themes, are published each year. The series has made a significant contribution in mapping current debates about contemporary art. Vol 1. deals with the subjects of 'Spatiality, Homelessness and Anxiety' and 'Performativity, Repetition and Acting Out'
