Urban Origami brings together seven artists, each with a very distinctive approach to exploring the problematic growth of city dwelling and its debris. As they look at the discarded beauty of the expanding city, these artists reveal displaced objects, salvaged architecture, assembled urban spaces and an uncanny use of light, all employed in an attempt to expound meaning behind contemporary living. In preparation for the redevelopment of Sir John Soane’s Pitzhanger Manor-House, this exhibition seeks to re-contextualise his work within a contemporary art discourse, taking the modern city and its history as a form of inspiration. |
