Lasses on the Wall; Then + Now - A zine made my members of the Young Women's Film Academy's Saturday Club, October – December 2022, for Hadrian's Wall 1900 Festival.
Hadrian's Wall was built to guard the Northern frontier of the Roman Empire in 122AD, it was a multi-cultural and vibrant military zone of mile-castles, barracks, ramparts, forts and settlements. Surely, women had to exist here too.
Many of our young people have grown up seeing bits of Hadrian's Wall in their day to day lives and have created their own histories alongside the history of the wall.
It made us wonder; But what of the women of the wall?
